Peter Madden’s installations and collages are assembled from images cut from encyclopaedias, advertisements and National Geographic magazines. His works are fantastical, poetic and the complex layering of imagery invites metaphorical associations.
The Auckland-based has said of his approach : “I consider myself a ‘Sculptographer’; a ‘post-conceptual photographer’. A mediator between genres & dimensions, between you, the other and I. I suppose I am an altogether different collagist, maybe a collagist of difference.”
Madden graduated MFA from the University of Auckland, School of Fine Arts in 2002 and his work is represented in the collections of the Auckland Art Gallery and Queensland Art Gallery amongst others.
