John Eaden

John Eaden graduated from the University of Canterbury Fine Arts faculty in the early 1970s and has continued his painting practice since with an art career of multiple solo and group exhibitions working in both 2 dimensional and 3 dimensional works. He exhibited widely throughout the 1980s and 1990s, being the recipient of two Arts Council Grants during this period. In 1986 John was the winner of the Team McMillan Art Award, (Judge Cheryll Sotheran) the most prestigious art award of this time. His painting practice has made reference to both European and New Zealand art traditions and his subjects demonstrate a contemporary approach to both landscape and figurative painting. He is represented in the Wallace Arts Trust collection, Auckland Hospital Board, Unitec Auckland and private collections in New Zealand, California, Tasmania and France.
