SPA_CE is pleased to present Surface Song, a solo exhibition of paintings by Matt Arbuckle.

A collection of paintings made between 2022 and 2026, six works that share a riddle of time. Their surface is flat but alludes to a distance and a memory of place. The surfaces in this exhibition function as maps and tracks, as they are soaked, grit, pigment dust and studio debris mark the layers. In doing so, the surfaces begin to form their own terrain. 

We are having an opening event next week on Wednesday, March 11th. Auckland based Arbuckle will be in town for the evening so please join us to welcome the show.
