Green is one of my favorite colours. When I build things in clay I use a chrome oxide slip, like a green clay paint, to mark the bases of all the pieces that I make. Because I see pieces of pottery as like a 3 dimensional drawing this marking allows me to work with areas normally regarded as the bottom or base.

It occured to me that all the other work in the room would have a shiny surface, and so I could utilise the the matt green as a contrast.

The pieces were assembled over a couple of days, grouped and then painted. As it turned out the pieces appear to be a solid green, dug up and dusted off…almost activated.
