WAYMARK | SWELL

Vanessa Arthur, Bronwynne Cornish, :

15 Sep 2021 — 16 Oct 2021

Our next show presents a series of wall works from Vanessa Arthur and sculpture from Bronwynne Cornish simultaneously. They both have their own unique approach to building sculpture. Vanessa’s work, hand built signs, slip and rub shoulders with painting. Bronwynne Cornish’s ongoing interest in mythology, nature spirits, the hand built fired material.

‘WAYMARK’

At first glance an ‘empty’ sign may seem stuck in a kind of limbo, melancholic & lifeless.
To me they epitomise a space between just before and a moment after. A waymark.
Spaces where the past, present and future merge, something ineffable… a site of subtle awe.

‘SWELL’

To grow bigger, to dilate, expand, to rise
Or rise up from surrounding surfaces,
Bulge out, increase in force and intensity,
Feel like bursting with emotion.

Bronwynne Cornish, 2021.

The show is installed, an opening event will be held when Auckland based Bronwynne Cornish is able to travel, I will send further information on this event once we know more.
